Whether it’s a wedding or a reception at Standedge the best way to arrive is on board our boat. It takes around 15 minutes to make the trip from Marsden to Standedge via the canal. For a wedding, we take the bride and party from the lock by Marsden Station to the landing stage by the venue, North of England Centre for Music & Arts. We can run earlier trips for the Groom & Ushers and also take guests to the venue; the only constraint is that we are licensed to carry just 12 people at a time. If you’re having the ceremony somewhere else, we can take the Bride & Groom to the reception at Standedge. Standing on the front of our boat as it emerges from under the railway bridge and then turning around in the basin by the venue makes for a splendid photo opportunity!
We offer a flexible service and if you’d like us to stay for more photos after the ceremony or to provide trips for guests we’re happy to do that too – children love a boat ride! We can decorate the boat for you as shown in the photos or you can decorate it as you please. The venue arranges the charter. Fees support our Society and to help us continue offering free trips to the general public.
