Being part of something special

The Huddersfield Canal Society enjoys support from all over the country, not only from restoration enthusiasts and boaters, but from those who can see the need for improvements and the wider benefits to local communities. This support has been maintained since the 1970s and once the canal became operational, the Society changed direction to a new role of promoting and helping maintain the Huddersfield Canals.

As a member, you will:
➤ Have opportunities for volunteering including:
➙ helping to run our trip boats in Marsden & Uppermill
➙ joining our fortnightly maintenance team to work along the canal
➙ helping to tell the story of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal
➙ helping to run events.
➤ Support an organisation which keeps the Canal & River Trust to its commitments
➤ Be kept up to date on canal activities through our website and newsletters

If you would like to join the Canal Society or renew your existing membership, click the appropriate membership category below to pay for your subscription through PayPal. (A PayPal account is not necessary.)

Gift Aid
The Huddersfield Canal Society is a registered charity (number 510201). If you are a taxpayer, you can increase the value of your subscription, by asking for your payment to be treated as Gift Aid. Currently, every £1 we receive will then be worth £1.25 to us by reclaiming the tax you have already paid.

By choosing the Gift Aid category to pay your subscription, you are accepting that you have read and agree to the following declaration:

“I would like the Huddersfield Canal Society Ltd to reclaim the tax on this and any other eligible membership subscriptions and donations that I may make in the future or have made in the past 4 years. I am a current UK taxpayer and understand that I need to pay enough Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in each tax year to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all my donations otherwise it is my responsibility to pay any difference.”

If you select ‘Gift Aid’, please notify the Canal Society if you:
* Want to cancel this declaration
* Change your name or home address
* No longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.
We will keep a record of your name, address and amounts paid so that this can be audited by HM Customs & Revenue as necessary.

For a one-off payment of just 10 year’s subscriptions, you could become a Life Member!
